Best case for $130

I dont liek lian li's they seem kinda plain, im looking for a nice gaming/ocing/ showing off case out theire for $130 with or without psu i dont worry.... i was kinda looking at the thermaltakes, they are nice, but there are so many to choose from......Help out.

I am looking at the Antec P160 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-129-141&depa=1) myself. It looks really good, and the only problem listed at newegg is a little lack of docs, and the CD drive covers are supposed to be kind of cheap, but all and all it looks real good.

Let me narrow it down, the best Thermaltake case period, dont matter the money, they are all cool, just not sure which is a better case than the rest. I dont mind the weight, i need to work out anyway...:)

Since you have it narrowed down your choice to Thermaltake cases, shouldn't you be able to decide which one you want? We don't know what kind of taste you have. What someone thinks is cool, you might think is ugly. You must have gone to the Thermaltake web site to look at the cases by now...didn't one stand out from the others?

I never ask for the opinion of others when it comes to cases since I already know what I like and pick out the ones that catch my eye. I don't worry about what other people think about my case choice...it's my case, not theirs. If they think it's ugly, fine...the important thing is I like the way it looks...and I'm the one who sees it most of the time anyway.

Me too! :D Just put my old system in a new P160 (without the window) and it is the finesT piece of craftsmanship I've ever seen in aluminum - just plain AWESOME.:cool:

I'm amazed at how quickly some of you upgrade or change your computers. Seems like lil Jimmie always has a new computer to play with. My own computer just made 6 years old this month and it still has the same case, motherboard, CPU, heatsink power supply and floppy drive. All the other parts were replaced when necessary (because the old part died). Thinking about building a new one soon though. Nothing fancy, just something that works.

Oh I stilll have the same case I used 2 years ago, it's just seen a few cpu's and mobos along the way and I still have the first case from my first build. Most of my hardware gets passed down to the wife and kid or sold off. I have a P4 2.8C that should be here tommorow to drop in and replace the 2.8E, got too much in my main rig for that hotplate, but I have another case with much more room to put it in.

I usualy upgrade when I pass something on to a friend or family member, break something, or sell one of the parts to a costomer who wants to save a few bucks. It has been awhile since I built a completely new computer. The one in my sig has kind of "evolved" over the last couple of years. Well Cricket, let's see...they all run solid, can be monitored from my main rig, when a friend or two comes over to play they have a nice rig to play on and it's something I enjoy doing.

No matter what you're doing with your PC make sure you get a solid case with a good PSU cause it might see few mobos in it's lifetime.

Oh and I spent 2 hours this evening playing UT04 so I do get time to play.

Take a look at the AHANIX brand cases on both www.newegg.com and www.mwave.com
These are heavy duty cases that come without a cheapie power supply. The finish is great and very hard to scratch. Most come with temp readouts.

check out Xoxide.com (http://www.xoxide.com) they have alot of different styles and good pics. Some people have complained about their Customer service, i personally have never had a problem with them, for what it's worth.

I'm sure there's a case out there that fills your needs but there is more to choosing a case than you indicate. The following reflects an experience shopping for a case. The two subject cases are very similar however with many differences. Enermax is steel and only fills 3 of 7 fan holes and sells for $75+$15. Thermaltake has side window and fan control. I'm uninterested in either feature but it has all 7 fans and is aluminum. But it is $153 and the Enermax comes to $135 when upgraded with the features I require and are included in the Thermaltake. In other words, Reseach is an important aspect of making any PC component purchase. And there are many Etailers out there, some make it hard so I look for those that have Manufacturers Links. Ditto on newegg and mwave. Good Luck!

Vary good reply Dragon. I think that is why so many of us like the P60. It isn't really all look (though it 'is' nice to look at), but it's also soild, is said to have dang goood air flow, and it also has the removable drive cages and mother board try. All vary good features that arn't all needed but make life easier. Plus front 'top' USB, Firewire and audio jacks. And it's only a bit over $100. You don't have to like the look to know that it will do it's job, and do it well. If you buy a case that looks great but has a tricky or cheap access panel, or tight working area, you're going to kick yourself later.

Cheiftech cases?

Cheiftech are what I consider kind of middle ground. Solid, and good room inside, but most only have front USB. If you arn't going to be playing a lot of community based games where you don't need a mic/headphone set-up they are good I guess. The scorpio series seem to have good inside layout. That is what I was going to go with before I really looked into Antec.

my speakers have build in mic and headset,ill be fine, and i can alwasy hook it up to the back, i dont even use the jacks in teh front of the pc, i just wanan show off my system and get some people interested in it when i walk around. I want a case that people can see, not a regular old antec case in silver or whatever...its boring for my tastes and its not an eye catcher... maybe if i slap about 3 coats of blue metalic paint it would look great, but i really dont have the time to make a custom pain job, i have projects to do in school...

The thing with the Chaftec is everyone uses them. They are the same cases ibuypower uses for their retail systems. Antec is rare. Most people wouldn't have seen one before.

I have always liked THIS (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-119-029&depa=1) CoolerMaster case. It is all aluminum and looks very nice. There is a window version as well.
