Kernel Memory or RAM problems???

Hey everyone...

I am having some major trouble with memory issues I believe. At this point I am running games or programs and they are starting to shut down again without notice. The program or game could from anywhere from 30 seconds to hours.

After the shut down would occur I would press CTRL+ALT+Delete to open my Windows Task Manager and check on the Performance tab. I have noticed that after the shut down there is a full "spike" in the CPU Usuage History graph. At the same time it is the red line and green line for Kernel times and the Physical.

Any suggestions? I have already found one bad stick of RAM about 3 months ago? Should I try to replace it or is it something else? Please help me!

Replace the ram.
Also run a virus/spyware check.

I already ran my Spy-Bot and Ad-Aware and found over 100 problems so I think that has helped quite a bit. I just dont want to have to replace my RAM and spend some money when there are other ways.

If I did replace the RAM should I upgrade from PC-2700 to maybe PC-3200 or 3500? Any ideas?

If the problem is bad ram the only sloution is replacing it.
As for the upgrade to 3200 or 3500, only do that if you're getting a cpu that will use the 400 fsb, a 3000+ or 3200+, or you're taking up serious overclocking.
