Hello:

Was wondering if somebody could tell me why maybe 1 or 2 times per week on it's own Norton Anti Virus 2003 will start running a scan of files checking for a virus?

I run it 2x per day on my own and do the same for a Spyware program, never open email I don't know or download anything from sites/people I am not comfortable with. I constantly delete any temp files, do a System Frag 1x per week too.

Does anyone else get this and if so what triggers it to react
when I am being so careful anyway? I have Windows XP and the computer was built in May of 2003.

Thank you and good weekend!!

The default install puts a weekly scan into the Windows task scheduler. If you open Control Panel, switch it to Classic View, and open Scheduled Tasks, you can modify the schedule or remove the scheduled task.

You can configure your Anti-Virus program using the Schedule Task - Schedule.

Also have a look at the Norton Antivirus - Options -Autoprotect.
