Proxythunkbat???

One of the computers here at the ice rink where I "donate" my time has a stubborn adware toolbar that won't go away and doesn't show any obvious locations so that I can remove it.

I've run NAV 2004 Professional with updated defs and it doesn't find anything. I'm currently running Housecall but at this time it doesn't see any problems.

I loaded Spybot S&D but had trouble updating the definitions.

I can temporarily remove the toolbar by unchecking it's name (right-click menu) "Proxythunkbat".

I would appreciate any help in undoing this thing for good.

You need to get Spybot updated, and also get Ad-Aware.

The virus scans didn't find anything, but I went back into Spybot and downloaded all the updates -- this time without any problems and did a complete scan and immunization.

Went back into IE and it still had the Proxythunkbat toolbar, but when I closed the toolbar, I closed and reopened the browser and it did not reappear. I did that a few more times just to be sure because it would reopen itself and change the homepage when it was active.

So far so good :)
