Hey,

I got enough money for one or the other. They're exactly the same price, so which one should I get? I have the original bf1942 and road to rome and love it. So which one should I buy? Will Far Cry run with my system specs? (Look at sig). Thanks.

my advise is play the Far Cry demo see wether comp will handle it and wether you like that kind of game Far cry is single player based

BFV is very nice and will be amazing after a patch or two BFV is Multiplaer based

i have both and cant realy say which is better as they are both unique and fun/challenging in different ways sorry :(

Is farcry going to blow me away? Or is it not worth it if I have to set everything relatively low graphic wise? Is battlefield vietnam different enough from the original bf1942 to justify its purchase? Thanks.

BFV is an AWESOME game.
Make sure ya have the system to run it though, mine runs it, but not well.
I have to pretty much keep the settings on low right now.
I am getting a new video card and another stick of ram(hopefully on payday), which I hope will help out with performance.
I think im going with the 9600XT as it seems to be getting good reviews with BFV players.

I'm sure I can run BFV but I'm wondering about FarCry. I think I should just stick to BFV because I know how great battlefield is. Anyone else? (I'm gonna buy either one tonight).

Farc cry still looks awesom on lowish setting you may get away with medium.
DL the demo to make sure you can run it to make sure your not throwing your money away

currently im playing BFV alot as i enjoy the online environment

I tried downloading the demo off their website and it's going insanely slow. So for the moment the demo isn't going to help me. If you had to choose, which one would you pick? I enjoy playing online. I dont play the single player part of battlefield at all.

I have a 1.4 athlon, ti4200,and a gig of ram and it ran fine and looked great on medium settings(Farcry). I didnt even try to fiddle with the settings either.

I downloaded both Farcry demos at gamespot.com.

If you plan on buying the other later, I would go with Farcry now, allow them time optimize and patch BFV. Online games of that magnitude rarely begin without a hitch. And Farcry has multiplayer too that can tide you over. Just go play the demos, you will know the right choice heh.

Is FarCry similar to Halo?

Far Cry looked great on my brother's gf3...
I would go for farcry, because with BFV it's just more of the same (because you've played the previous games)
give something new a try.. farcry is a great game.

then in a few months you can go back and get the other if you want to.
that's just my opinion though.

BFV is like a mod, not a real game...IMHO....go Far Cry. Everyone around here has said the demo sucked, but the actual was completely awesome.

So you guys say Far Cry? Is the Desert Combat mod just as good as the new Vietnam game? Thanks.

Yes....DC is so awesome...and Vietnam...although some may think it is a great game....to me it is just a mod with better graphics....not an actual game....and I don't know what EA was thinking but the Single Player is terrible. If a game is streesed on it's multiplayer, to me it's a mod.

IMO,
DC is good, but not nearly as fun as BFV. BFV is more infantry based which I like. Lots of different weapons, places to sneak around, and requires more team play.
It does need a few things fixed, and probably should not have been released so quickly, but they will get it fixed up soon enough.

If I want to sneak around and have team based play, I would rather play Vietcong....same concept of BFV.....but it a lot better. To me EOD and BFV are no different.

To each his own.

True.....but om the matter of this thread....if you already have BF:1942, get EOD if you want to play Vietnam, but personally I think that in this situation:

Far Cry would be your best bet.

I guess I must think differently then everyone else, because when playing BFV, I do not in any way feel that I'm playing a mod for '42, or even a sequel to it...it feels like a completely different game. True, it has some things it needs ironed out, but its a blast.

The FarCry demo was great, but I haven't heard much good about the mutliplayer, and that's all I do anymore, so I'm going to pass.
