Briefly looking through the threads in this gaming forum, I do not find any reference to the Rainbow 6 series, in particular, Raven Shield or Athena Sword. Do any of you play RvS? Just curious. And if so, what do you think about it? Are you a member of a community/clan that plays? How much time do you spend playing a week? I may be a nOOb to this site, but get used to me 'cause I will be here often. ;)

Tripp, I have all the Rainbow Six, bought the collector's edition of rogue spear, expansion packs, raven shield and athena sword pre-ordered from Ubisoft.com so I could get them soon as they came out....I've noticed on here that not many talk about them...I rarely play massive multiplayer, used to play Rogue spear w/Urban ops on a LAN....however, Raven shield will not allow network play with one CD....so my friends are heading out to purchase it in the near future....That's one thing I liked about RS/UO was it let you play multi LAN with one disc

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Rainbow 6 series.... I've played them all, and although good games I think there are much better MP games out there

nope sorry don't play rainbow6, not my kind of game, write me down as a vote for strategy. RTS all the way. if you want a GREAT rts game try homeworld2. it's eppic ( and in the case of HW2 that's not just a marketing word, it realy is eppic)

Im a big fan of driving/shooting games. but the kind where the set is in a full city, such as GTA. I also like it when theres a good deal of interacitvity between the player and the city (access to buildings, elevators, secrets, etc)

I remember playing the first level of the original Rainbow Six for the first time and was just blown away by how detailed it was. I've gotten every Rainbow Six since then except the newest ones (Raven and Athena). They will without a doubt have a combo pack in the future. That's how I have bought all of the previous ones, in combo packs.
I was like redfallon in that I played Urban Ops on my LAN b/c of the one CD deal but haven't played any RB6 games lately. I should get athena here soon. I'll look for deals.

Raven and athena can be found in a combo pack, saw it at microcenter and Bestbuy both I think, for only a couple bucks more than I paid pre-ordering from the mfr, with shipping....

Now, I am a big fan of RPG games. I am so impress by Rainbow 6 Raven shield and its expansion pack Athena Sword!
I love the game! the weapon detail is so fabulous! I feel as if I am really shooting the MP5 or the so venerable M14. Now the Athena Sword expansion pack has a few more weapons, and the pc enemys are much smarter. I like that. You really have to use the old cabeza to come up with new stradegies and organize your teams very well. It is sad, however that the amount of items and secondary weapons that you can carry is very limited. Then again that adds an extra appeal to the way you approch each particular mission. One must use and rely more the intelligence iformation given to you at the briefing room. The sound effects are just immaculate. Even the richocheting of the bullets is very reallistic. Call me weird if you will but the one thing I wish this game had was more detail to the way your enemys die. Example when you dispose of a group of enemys with a fragmentation granade, there should be body parts all over. If you are using the M1 Shotgun at a very short range you should see pieces of flesh flying of the bodies. That is all I have to say about that.

Frankie385, I have to say I agree with you about the detail. For those who haven't played the latest in the Rainbow series in a while, I say give it a whirl. The graphics and gameplay are very detailed.

I still laugh at those who are used to playing Ghost Recon and then come play Raven/Athena with us. They pick up even an M16 and don't understand why they can't hit or see anything all the sudden in this game. The recoil is much more realistic than any other Military type game I have played.

As far as the body parts everywhere, would make for great animation but would tax the quality of the game movement (i.e. LAG!). Now if you want to see some funny stuff, hit me up on the ragdoll mods if you are not familiar with them. Bodies (not parts) fly in all kinds of contortions with ragdoll mods LOL.

By the way, multiplayer is the way to go with RvS. I play with a great group of people. Come check it out some time. Peace out... on the road again!

That is right dude! The recoil is so realistic that you can feel the butt of the AK-74 bitch slap you.
I always play single mode. I am not familiar with internet play time. I imagine is like that wussy Counter Strike game!
I would love to thought. send me a line man "educate me"
