In early April of 2000, Becky had been experiencing odd numbness and dizziness. Her doctor referred her to a neurologist who ran a battery of tests. The tests came back indicating a strong likelihood of Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease that affects the central nervous system.

The following March, I posted a story on NeenerNeener.Net, revealing her affliction and discussing some of the effects it has had on her life, and asking for people's help with pledges on the MS Walk. I was braced for insensitivity, cruelness and a lack of concern. Instead, the gaming community responded with overwhelming support: we received almost $10,000 in pledges. We also received hundreds of emails detailing personal struggles with MS, other illnesses, and general loss - along with messages of hope and inspiration. Our fellow gamers, relating their own experiences and sharing with complete openness and honesty.
