I recently upgraded from office 2000 to office xp and very stupidly decided to upgrade all instead of custom installing - i now have a problem with Outlook where all my previous messages have disappeared. When i click on the Outlook desktop icon i get an error message:
The.dll file for the information service could not be found. MAPI unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL
I can access mail through outlook express 6 and that luckily still contains my address book and limited messages as i was previously accessing my mail through both outlook express and outlook depending on my mood LOL I probably should stick to one but it bugs me that i can't get outllook to work for the calendar option.
I have uninstalled office xp and office 2000 then reinstalled office xp but still no joy.
I have tried the microsoft kb but can't find the answer. any ideas?

Here's a link to a file named pstprx32.dll. Can't find the one without the 32. Maybe add this to your system folder and see if it corrects the problem.

Have you tried creating a new Outlook profile?
1--Close Outlook 2002.
2--Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3--Double-click Mail.
4--Click Show Profiles, click Add, name the profile, and then click OK.
5--Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
6--Click a type of account, and then click Next.
7--In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, enter the necessary information, and then click Next.
8--Click Finish.
Note:If the 'Always use this profile' option is selected, select the profile that you just created, and then click OK.

Don't know if this will recover your original mail or not, but it's worth a read.

No problem..glad I could help! :)
If you're using Outlook for an internet mail account, then your mail should be stored on your hard drive in a PST file. If you have more than one look at the dates on the files to see which is the most recent.
Once you've located it, you can import it into your new profile. If you have any questions or need the steps to do this, let me know...
