Yeah, I'm always suspicious of deals such as this... if it's free, there's some kind of catch, and I'd imagine for that kind of capability there's going to be a fair few annoying ads.
However, if there is, I'm definitely keen

I hope they do start it, and make it have POP3 so that I dont have to log into my different accounts(1 for open places/forums, 1 for personal, one for any signups aparts from forums) Also tons of space is an up :D

Not at the moment, but Google believes in helping people access information whenever and however they want to do so. Your email should never be held hostage by a service provider. In the future you will be able to access Gmail messages from non-Gmail accounts for free or at a nominal fee.

At least they are being straight forward about this stuff from the beginning. And you can't complain with 1Gig of storage.

1000 people would need a Terabyte of space I believe.

Google is starting small but will soon take over the world. And I am not opposed as long as they continue to offer superior quality in whatever they do.
I remember when I would look up sites for research back in the "old" days. I would go to a few different search engines. Yahoo, dogpile, aj.com but now I just use google. And what about e-mail? Besides an ISP's service, there is really only hotmail and yahoo. Why not have everybody under one. I think it'll be cool and I look forward to signing up. (I hope this isn't a joke, but it does seem plausible).

I am absolutely in this - google is a truly great web developer (read: search engine) and I am thinking that if this is possible, everyone would be on it and such would pose extingencies. For examples, the downing of servers because of excessive signups - possible, eh?
