Okay, this is my first post.

I got this emachines desktop (T1440) about 1.5 years ago, and now it is starting to piss me off. The damn thing is so slow. I have been reading up and considering building my own computer. The question I have is can I use the video card from my emachine when I upgrade? I am looking at getting an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard. The video card on the emachine is Intel Direct AGP 3D (810e Shared).

Thanks for the help. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, I'm still trying to figure a lot of this stuff out.

Thats onboard video. You cannot remove integrasted video from a motherboard so if you build a computer then you will have to buy a new video card.

Welcome to PCMech! ASUS is a good choice for the brand of mobo. You can get an ASUS with onboard video, but if you're looking for speed or wanting to game alot, you'll want to get a video card for the AGP slot. Good luck.

Okay... I'm kind of confused now.

After what Kov-Ice said, I did some more looking.
I found this..
Here (http://www.ajump.com/ajump/product.asp?dept%5Fid=5120&pf%5Fid=4940148&sku=99%2D99%2D99%2D99%2D99%2D4940148)

The original motherboard that I was looking at is here:
Original (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-450&depa=0&section=2)

My confusion is that these two motherboards look almost identical to me. The only differences I saw were:
Original has gigabit LAN, Original does not have video card.

Anyone see anything that I didn't? I don't see how these two motherboards are $28 difference, and the one with the integrated video card is cheaper. Could someone shed some light on this for me? TIA

More questions:

Is there any advantage to having Gigabit LAN over 10/100?
(We have cable at the house)

I'm not really into gaming, so the computer will be used mostly for listening to songs and watching the occasional DVD. I also burn DVDs.

The orgianl is the better out of the 2
the second one has onboard graphics card which is rubbish
get the P4P800 you wont be disapointed
get a sapphire radeon 9600xt video card (9800 if you can afford) and you'll have a decent machine

I went with the one with the integrated video card. That motherboard also has an AGP slot so that if I wanted to upgrade the video card in the future I can do so.

Coolie, I'd make that a new thread, it's not really appropriate here
