Installing Hard Drive On Same Channel As CDrom

HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I am needing to install another hard drive. I have the one that came in the computer which is a 60GB and I have another which is a 200GB.

I need to know if I can install another one by connecting to the CD-Rom channel and if it is possible what steps to take to do it.

I am currently at less than 1GB free space with both of the current drives combined so if someone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

I have 2 additional Western Digital 160GB drives available to install and will be happy to supply any additional information you might need to assist with this issue.

You can put the third hdd on the same channel as your CD-rom if it's just for extra storage. Although, I think it would be a better idea to get a PCI to IDE controller card and connect it that way, and leave any optical drives separate from any hdd.

Since it seems you have 2 more hard drives to install, your best bet would be to install a PCI IDE controller card and connect the hard drives to that. Promise makes good PCI IDE controller cards.

Thanks All for the help in resolving my issue now I just need to recover some missing data and all will be well.

Lost 15gigs of music somewhere although it is still showing as being on a 200gig Western Digital drive I sure dont see it there.
Any ideas on a recovery procedure would be appreciated.

Do you have the required OS level to see drives over 137gb (2K SP3 or XP SP1)? If 2K, is the EnableBigLba key set in the registry? If everything is right here, you may need to run Chkdsk on the drive.

Yes I have everything like it should be am running Windows XP and all was fine till installed the new Hard drive and now cant find my files it is like they just vanished inot thin air but they are still taking up space on the drive.

Ran chkdsk and it found some files butnot what I was looking for.

I am lost as to what to do next so if anyone has any ideas I would sure appreciate them.

Run chkdsk again, this time with the /r switch.
