i have western digital 40 gb ultra 100 hard drive. just built a new computer. on bootup it does recognize the drive . at the bottom of the boot screen also saying something about 80 connector not installed. i am using the black 80 connector that came with the motherboard. i have drive set as master . but was reading where you should put the jumper on cable select.i tried that but still got the same message was wondering if this is a problem. everything is working ok on the computer. any help would be appeciated.
motherboard is an aopen ax4spe-un.
also the boot led light just keeps blinking. manual sd upon post test this should stop. did contact aopen and they sd not a problem if the boot led light blinks. bios is 1.03

Set the jumper to "neutral" per this diagram and try again.

Does the 80 wire IDE cable have different colored connectors? Standard connections are blue to motherboard, black to the drive you want master and grey to slave device (drives jumped to CS).
If the cable is a 80 wire but the connectors are all the same color, check to see if the connectors are marked...motherboard, master, slave.

Well, the only jumper config you haven't tried is the "single" option with all jumpers removed. Give that one a try. And have you checked in bios to see if the hdd is recognized?
