We all know it's a POS. Now, why is it beneficial to disable it?
Does one need to disable it to prevent it from interfering with another firewall?
TIA

That isn't a accurate statement IMO. It is a very good firewall blocking incoming using SPI. I prefer hardware firewalls and use a router but for a single PC without a router it is fine.
Some feel they need to block out going and for those people there are other alternatives such as Zone Alarm and in those cases I would turn it off to eliminante the possibility of conflicts. For the same reason I have it turned off since I use a router.
