java VM disabled

I have been having trouble getting my Java applets running on my machine. I connected to a site yesterday and run some diagnostics and it said my Java Virtual Machine was disabled but did not tell me how to reenable it. Does anyone know?

Go to internet options/security/custom level.You will find it there.
