hi guys

i just finished a new build, and was thinking of getting a copy of norton systemworks 2003 from ebay for it. i'm aware that 2004 is out, and was wondering if any of you could please give me any info about what this version information means with regard to virus scanners.

is the 2004 version substantially better than 2003? would i be wasting my money on the older one?

if a person keeps up with the online updates, would a 2003 version be pretty close to a 2004 in functionality?

are new versions of antivirus software just kind of a game that the software companies play to keep us buying new product every year? or do things (aside from just new virus definitions) really change a lot with this software?

also -- a bunch of the listings on ebay specifically mentioned that their item was not oem software. with systemworks, how does the oem version differ from the retail?

thanks!

dont get 2k4, from what people say its nothing but trouble. For systemworks, just use the AV, it already lags up the computer alone, you dont neede all that other junk. OEM just means no fancy box and costs less, may not be any instructions though, and make sure there is a subscription.
EDIT: exept maybe norton ghost could be good

when you say "just use the av," what is the av? that's a term i'm not familiar with. do you mean antivirus?

thanks!

Yep, he means just install the antivirus (av) component of the software...
