Sometimes my AVG antivirus program will call this program a virus. When I do a direct scan on the program it says it is clean. I can't delete the file because it says another program or service is using it, even in safe mode. Any ideas?
Thanks

AVG uses heuristic detection, which means that it will flag any files that are suspicious to its detection scheme and the file in question does not fit any specific virus signature. There is an option in AVG to turn heuristic detection on or off. You could try experimenting with that.

Amazing what you find when you use Google.

Thanks people, I found all the same things too except about how AVG detects certain things. Learn something new everyday

Heuristics can give you false positives, but I'd rather have this than it missing genuine bad stuff. Norton calls their heuristics "Bloodhound".
