I have just had high speed cable internet service yesterday. Everything is fine except that I am not able to log in to my Yahoo mail. I got a message that " ERROR: URL COULD NOT BE FOUND". Also, a few websites I am not able to view either. Please advise. Thanks.

If you are using Windows XP, open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

Thanks for your help but it still doesnot work. The IPCONFIG is not recognized as an internal or external command.

I should be more specific. I have the computer connected to a wireless router too. I don't have knowledge about networking at all. I just installed router and its software and my computer got connected to the internet. Do I have to set up the network or do anything else? Thanks.

What version of Windows?

Is your broadband modem connected to the WAN port on the router and is the computer connected to one of the switch ports on the router? What router software? The ones we use don't use software.

Yes, the modem is connected to the WAN port on the router; the computer connected to on of the switch ports on the router. THe router I have is BELKIN 2.4HZ, 802.11b. I use BELKIN EASY ISNTALLATION WIZARD software.

I got the connection but I am not able to sign in to my Yahoo mail box. I don't know if this is the setting problem or the YAhoo mailbox down. Thanks.

Quinny it could be that your ISP has cached the DNS of the sites that are giving you the errors. This happened to me once when I repeatedly tried to access a site that was down, and for a week I couldn't get to it because my ISP has cached it as unavailable. A call to their customer support solved it as they put in a request to reset the cache. Try that and see if it helps.

Sharif,

I called my ISP but they said they did not cache it. I was recommend by them to reinstall IE. It is still not working either. ONe thing I dont' understand why I can access to other secured websites except Yahoo and a few websites. Any opion will be appriciated.

If XP's command prompt is not recognizing IPCONFIG as a valid command, you have an issue somewhere.

My ISP also told me to type cmd and then IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS. The command was recognized but it still doesnot work.

Thank you all for help. The problem has been resovled. Why the engineer of my ISP was instructing me to forward all my Yahoo mail to my ISP mail box, Yahoo mail box popped up. I am able to access to Yahoo mail too. The engineer told me that probably, Yahoo has cleaned or done something with thier DNS ( I dont remember what he said) periodically. During that time, no body can access to their mailbox.

This site is very helpful. Again, your help is appreciated.
