Alright, im trying to network an old PI comp (Using Win98SE) to my network temporarily to backup some files before i format the thing! Im having some probs trying to get the comp to see the other comps on my network (which use XP). Any suggestions on what I should do?

BTW, if this question has already been answered on a previous thread, please just give me the link.

Thanks in advance

How are the computers connected?
Make sure that you use the same subnet and workgroup name.

I set the comp to have the same workgroup name. How do I set the subnet?

BTW, the Net card is an old ISA NE2000. I had a thought that it would only use a 10 Mbps network. would it be compatitble with a 100 Mbps network?

EDIT: The computers are connected to a router (Linksys BEFSR41)

i belive when you run the network wizard on xp it gives you an option to create a disk to set up older OS's.. you could try that.

If this is purely for transferring files, I would skip the networking, and just pull out the hard drive and hook it up in one of your current systems, then copy the data over.

even with the extra time to take the drive out and hook it up, it may be a quicker process than trasferring at 10mbps.

Oh yeah, installing the hard drive on the other comp. I never thought about that!. Ill do that!
