Check your bios settings for Wake on Lan (WOL) - disable it.
Thanks for the quick reply, glc.Went into the bios, went into Power management,no reference to WOL,yet the motherboard has LAN which shows up on my task bar as being unplugged.Dont plan on using this now mabye later on.All the features in the bios are set to what the manual suggests.I'm lost

I would disable that onboard LAN then If I was not planning on using it right away. It's just 1 more thing for windows to load and if you're not using it disable it till you need to use it someday..
Thanks for the quick reply, ktkendall, disabled it,not in my taskbar anymore,I'll continue to try it,see if thats the problem. Thanks to you and glc for the replies

That may or may not be the answer to the shutdown problem but it is just a good idea to disable onboard LAN if your not using it.. You'll probably notice a little bit faster bootup time now though..

Have you scanned for viruses, spyware, hijackers, malware and trojans? Been seeing a whole lot of this kind of stuff on computers lately, especially the hijackers.

What OS are you using?
Are you using Roxio's Easy CD Creator?
This web page (http://www.aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm) has good information on shutdown and restart problems.
Problem might also be related to the PC Chips motherboard.

Hi cricket, using WinXPPro,don,t use Roxio, checked with The PCCHIPS Lottery site,no mention of this problem.I,m hoping that disableing my lan, advice from ktkendall will work.Let you all know in a few days, thanks all
