Okay, I finished building my first computer a couple of days ago. I just got the OS today and installed it.
This is what I have:
Pentium 4 HT 2.8GHz
Asus P4G800-V Mobo
Windows XP Home
My problem is that I can't get a connection to the internet through the LAN. We have cable and it is working on the other two computers in the room.
The software that came with the mobo did not have a driver install for the LAN device, but it is present in the User's Guide. Also, the ltp1 port for the printer is not working either.
Did I do something wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for everyone's help.

you still need to install the software and drivers for the nic from the cd that came with the motherboard before it will work

There is no driver download on the support CD.
Does anyone know where I could find one online?

look at the menue on the cd
it will have the inf files that you need to install after the os is installed
then look at the utilites menue and you will see the lan drivers.
install that stuff
read the manual that came with the motherboard, it has the full step by step instructions on how to set everything up
Install this first - Intel chipset drivers:

Okay, it's still not working.
When I installed it, it said "installshield wizard has finished performing maintenance operations on RTLSetup" This is just when I ran setup on the rtl8101l folder.
When I go into the WinXP folder and click "2ksetup". It says "Do you want to install RealtekRTL810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Driver". I say OK, and it says "Install Failed!" It asks if I want to continue, I say yes then it says driver installed completely. Yet it still does not work.

I had this problem, but however all the NIC Drivers are on the CD somewhere.
When you put the CD in, and auto run comes up, click each of the divers and install them.
If that doesn't work, go to the Hardware Device manager, and locate the Network Port, Right click, and click update driver, this will then take it off the CD.
