COD problem... [Archive]

just got it and im having a little problem.

i installed it and opened it and the main screen for single player works fine...

i clicked new game, the easiest thing, and then it froze... i restart, retry... every time i get alittle farther in the game and it now just closes automatically. no error. no nothing. just closes.

im running asus p4p800
512 corsair
radeon 9800 pro w/ 4.4 catalyst drivers
p4 2.8 @ 3.08
direct x 9b

i think the problem is somewhere in the graphics card and direct x drivers...

anyone know a solution? thanks...

err... make my drivers worse? can i just switch back and forth easily some way?

also now it just completely turns off my computer...

i3OSS is right. Jusy read that at 3D guru today, and forgot about it. Should fix your problem. The game was tested with cat 3.7's though. Nat a problem with my two rigs and cat 3.7. I use cat 3.7 because as of today they are still the very best ATI drivers put out.

when installing it i get a message that says it might damage or harm my computer... is that just a general message?

ok now if i install these will there be any noticable difference? will i still be able to run bf1942 and bfv smoothly?

update to the 4.4 ati drivers and then install the 1.3 patch for COD youll be fine. We all had this problem and when the 4.4's and the 1.3 patch came out all was fixed.

wheres this 1.3 patch? is the just the catalyst patch?

the catylist 4.4 drivers are for ati video cards. the 1.3 patch is for Call of Duty itself. I believe you can get the 1.3 patch at activisions web site if not google search it. the 4.4 drivers for the ati cards are at ati.com
