virus warning!!!!

the attachment on the email contains the following virus :

W32.Netsky.D@mm

This (expletive deleted by moderator) tried to hit me, unfortunately.What does this virus do to a pc when infected?

Hi stevieB and welcome to PC Mech :)

Netsky fakes the "From" field in the email, using an email address from the address book, or a random one, and adds itself to it as an attachment, so it's possible that you got the infected email from another source.

Besides, I'm sure he's an unwitting accomplice, it's a bit unfair to curse him and assume it's deliberate
If you read up on this one, I believe this is the virus that can instantiate itself solely by the person clicking on the title of the email, and not necessarily opening it. The only protection is an update from Windows which closes the hole.
So go easy on this poor guy, one day it could be your email that is used to attack others' computers
