Router problem?

Hi!

It seems everytime I put my computer to sleep it disconnets my DSL (Have a netgear Router), I don't know why the reason is. I looked in the power options but really didn't see anything that can trigger this. Can it be in bios setup by any chance?
I have also disabled the option that says my network card will be put into sleep.

I suspect that your DSL is looking for some activity to remain connected, not that the sleep is causing the issue. There should be no knowledge that you system is asleep on the other side of a router, so the only thing that would be sensed is network activity from your computer.

Look in your router's configuration and see if there's a "keep alive" option to simulate activity and keep the connection open.

I have a netgear router and under the basic settings(1st page) of the router setup pages(192.168.0.1 in address bar), there was an idle timeout that I had to put to zero before mine would stop disconnecting. Either that did it or my ISP stopped dropping out at the same time. I would look for either an Idle Timeout box, or as gun said, a keep alive option in the router conif pages.

I have the same situation with my cable modem connection. But it really doesn't bother me, I'm not using it anyway. Besides, as long as it connects after I wake it up, I'm happy. :D

Can you tell me exactly how I would access this window and fix it?

just type in that ip addtess in your browser and you will be at the router menue screen or log on screen.

I tried putting it to 0, but still to no avail it disconnects my internet. Any more ideas?
