I just put together my 1st build, reusing my old 32mb radeon/floppy/and liteon cdrom drive and then the rest of the specs in my signature.
It POSTs fine I can get into CMOS without problems, it's detecting the hard drive/floppy/and CDrom but I can't boot from the Gigabyte driver CD or the floppy????
it just spits out "boot disk error, insert boot disk and press enter" at me no matter what boot settings I try.

Please help me, I will not be back on for a while as I will be putting my video card back in my new build and trying to figure out what I ****ed up. But after I spend about an hour trying(and probably accomplishing nothing) I'll switch it back to this one and see if anyone responded. yay

Why would you want to boot from the motherboard cd? Im not even sure if you can, as i've never needed to. All you need to do is insert the Windows XP CD, and follow the instructions to install it. You will get the chance into install your drivers later, through Windows.

I don't have an XP cd......all I have is 98se I don't think that is bootable.
I have my old boot disk for this computer, which i tried but it didn't work either.......
I should be able to boot the mobo cd, it says it's bootable.

Im not sure about the mobo disk, so I'm not going to give advice there. But other than the BIOS, there's not much you can do without an OS.
If you want to load win98se you can make a bootdisk for it at http://www.bootdisk.com

I would seriously consider getting WinXP...Win98SE will sometimes have a problem with computers faster than 2.1GHz. WinXP is a much better match for that system...Win98SE is 6 years old already, that's old in computer years.

I think he's planning on getting WinXP, but hasn't bought it yet:

(It's his thread on where to buy WinXP the cheapest)
