iTunes random play screwed me over:
think about 30 ppl at my appartment, keg, wastedness, 2am, music blasting, iTunes on random play, SEAL - KISS FROM A ROSE comes on (which i had on there from a parody film project i was working on a while ago, not because i love the song). Naturally everyone sang along loudly, then murdered me.

no big deal. shake it off. I personally like that song a lot. Sure it is a laugh and a half because it was at a kegger, but be honest with yourself... You kept that song because you like it too!

You should see at work when I have my MP3's playing... go from a 80's Rock classic to something by the Simpsons or a Christmas song.... I really should make some playlists.

One of the first things people say when they get into my car, "You listen to COUNTRY?!?"
If a friend gets into my car and something other than country is playing, "Hey, where's the country, are you feeling OK?"

it must be something about us techies that we all like many different kinds of music. I will listen to anything, as long as I think it sounds cool, or has cool lyrics...Hal and oddjob's posts sound similar to what I get on a regular basis! No one can ever guess what will come next. Interesting, because I know alot of people who will only let themselves listen to one type.

I don't see how some people can stand to listen to the same stuff over and over and over and over...etc...again.
After playing something a couple dozen times, I get tired of it and look to something else. Rinse, repeat.

Outside of the oldies, namely The Beatles and such, and Elton John, about all I listen to is Country. It is really relaxing after a very hard day at work.

Never heard of the song, but probably because i'm young, is it 80's rock? Anyway, speaking of music, if you like prog-rock or anything close to rock, check out Dream Theater, they're awsome. I'm a guitarist, so i heard of their band that way. Been addicted since.

Hahaa, no it is not 80's rock. Seal is from the mid nineties. He is a girlish sounding black dude with a nice voice.

kiss from a rose reminds me of 8th grade woodshop... whenever i hear it i swear i can smell saw dust.
what is the worst is when one of those goofy songs you downloaded plays (at least seal is a known performer). i've got a song by the wiggles (of nick jr fame) called fruit salad, that some how made it into a playlist i had compiled.

My playlist is just as jumbled, in addition to classic rock and metal and punk and country and just about anything else, I have:
Bob and Tom's "Toast"
Brak's (from Space Ghost) "Don't Touch Me!" and "I like Beans!"
"GWB Whatever"
Adam Sandler's "Ode to my Car"
"Strong Bad Techno"
and miscellaneous sound clips from cartoons. There's no telling what will play next!
No worries, man. I always get a raised eyebrow or two when I have all my mp3s lumped into one huge playlist with random play on. I've got everything from the Secret of Mana sound track (NES music! woo!) to the Folger's theme song (Rockapella, which also sings the Carmen Sandiego theme from the old TV show). I've got both of the "Brad Sucks" CDs (which I highly recommend (http://www.bradsucks.net/) ), tons of 3 Dead Trolls in a Baggie songs, plus lots of live stand-up comedy routines. All this in addition to "real" music of almost every genre (no country, though... blechh ). You never know what's gonna come out of my computer's speakers!

The best advice I can give you is be an adult and don't worry about what other people think.

My eclectic music library ranges from techno to showtunes to pop to rock to classical to drumline to religious to celtic. My music folder has 4.2 GB of mp3s and I almost always use random play.... this makes for very odd combinations.
