A few days ago I put in a CD to my drive and it didn't work. Still doesn't. I used the divice manager and on it there's a small exclamation point icon on it like theres something wrong. However, It's plugged in and all should be fine. I checked for updated drivers and there isn't one. I have the most recent. i don't know what happened to make it stop working but it's fairly new and I suspect it's a software problem. HELP!

well, it's a custom built computer but I didn't do it, no. I bought it from CompUSA on a deal (probably my first mistake there) Anyway it was my first custom and I bought it so I could add to it when I wanted.

in that case if you just bought it from there, then I would take it back to then so you don't loose your warranty

so there's no way to fix it eh?

if its a new system, and is under warranty, I would not recommend that you even try, let them fix it for free.
who knows the drive may be bad and would have to be replaced
if you do anything it will void your warranty and then you would have to pay for everything includding the labor.

yeah.. the only thing is that it's a custom system. If anything IS under warranty, I was never told about it. It's something they just built in the shop. I'm just wondering if it's a software problem.. maybe a driver file got corrupted or misplaced.
Delete/uninstall the drive from device manager and reboot the computer.
