can't partition new drive??

hi folks

the bios recognizes my new drive and it shows up in computer management, but I cant find out how to partition it anywhere.

i tried properties and right-clicking and still it doesn't allow me to partition it.

Anyone have any ideas?

In the picture attached you can see that in

computer management -> diskl management

the drive shows up as 'disc 1, unallocated'

but doesn't show up as a volume. It also doesn't show up as an icon in "my computer"

2. Right click on the part where it says "Disk 1".

ahhh, ok, i was right clicking the wrong place -- you have to right click not the name part but the big rectangular graphic. thanks for the suggestion, it's partitioning now.
