I found this link over at Anandtech and it was too good to leave there.
Just scroll down aways and find worry free instructions for installing you heatsink : http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/Moboprep.html
One of the more nerve wracking install jobs just got a lot easier.:)

thanks for that. in 100% of mobo manuals for ones ive built it gives quite good instructions for that mobo.

Gonna remember that socket idea for pushing the clip in place. The possibility of a slipping screw driver always scares me. The only instruction I find missing when using the screw driver method is "Hold your breath!". Must be that just happens naturally!:D

One would think AMD could find a better mechanism. I have had the clips break, bend (won't seat flat), pop off and screw drivers slip. It has never caused me any huge heartache however it could have

well following the pcchips mobo manual it tells you to use a screwdriver for the heatsink. that was probably the hardest thing for me, the resistance between it and the mobo was very hard and you feel like its all gonna break.

I've always hated fitting heatsinks purely for the fact it feels wrong to be applying a lot of force with a screwdriver just above an expensive motherboard, don't you guys feel yourselves muttering "please don't slip" under your breath when your doing it?

I noticed that in the guide, a credit card (or whatever) was placed down on the area where the screwdriver may hit if it slips. That was something I never thought of, and may be a good idea for some peace of mind if you're always muttering "please don't slip" ;)

I figured out the nut runner or small socket on my own then later I seen Sarge suggeting it to people and if you are going to be building a lot of AMDs then IMHO a 1/4 inch nut runner or small socket like they suggest on the link is a must and there will be no need for a CC.

I might have a go at making up a fitting tool at work to overome slipping and fit properly to the retaining clip, keep you posted.
