Hello,
I am using MS Office XP Pro and MS Office XP Pro Proofing Tools.

Q1. How can i find out what versions (Service Packs) of the above softwares do i have? So as to know whether they should be updated.

Q2. Is there any way to configure some settings of these softwares so as in case there are some updates or new Service Packs available from Microsoft to be informed? Like with the Operating System MS Windows XP Pro, when there are some updates i automatically get informed to download and install.

Thank you.

Bring up Word and click Help->About MS Word.

You can go to the regular windows update site and click the OFFICE link. Once at the office page you'll find a "scan" my pc link.

On the Update page of Microsoft, for Office, there is no distinction between the Office XP Pro and the Office XP. Why is that? Are these two different programs or is the same thing?

The Pro version comes with more programs like power point and access.

The programs that are common in MS Office XP Pro and MS Office XP are exactly the same?

There are several versions of MS Office - standard, small business, pro, premium, maybe some more. The core modules are all the same, I think they all have Word, Excel, and Outlook. The olny differences are which optional modules are included, such as Access, Powerpoint, Publisher, Front Page, etc.

So when i go on the MS Office Home page - Office Updates for MS Office XP i should just press the tag ''Check for Updates'' and my Office will be updated no matter if it is Pro or whatever else? Just if it is XP Microsoft Office Online will make the necessary updating, right?

Also please give me some answer for Q2 on top of the page.

Thank you.

I just ran through the Office update routine. It listed all the updates available for both Office XP and Office 2000. I have 2000. There will be a checkmark next to the ones you've already installed.

I don't know of any feature in Office to update it automatically.
