Why do all my folders contain a file called "Thumbs.db"?
TIA.
The file thumbs.db is created when you use the thumbnail view of the picture I believe. Or just open a picture. Well I'm not 100% sure on this, but I can tell you how to prevent them from being created.
Anyway, that file should only be in folders with pictures. If you encounter that file in folders without pictures as well, then something is wrong.
Open Windows Explorer, go to Extras > Folder Options. Then go to the View tab. Now because I have the German version of Windows I can't give you an exact quote, but there is a line that should say something like "Don't save thumbnails". Check the checkbox next to it, click OK, and from now on the thumbs.db won't be created anymore.
You only need to erase the existing ones.

Thanks RJ for the info.
The unchecked box is called "Do not cache thumbnails" which I have now put a tick beside.
Danke shoen!
yea the tumbs.db is just where the thumbnail images of the pictures in that folder are saved, so that windows does not have to 're-scan' each image every time you open that folder (for the thumnail view).. i think if you select 'hide system files' in the folder options then u wouldn't see them anyway
