hello,
I'm trying to reinstall XP on my system....
But during the installtion, the part right after the serial that handels Network Devices..... it hangs, and dosesn't continue.
I have no Network things connected, and I only have my on board Network Card.
now, one of the problems I needed to reinstall XP is beacuse I couldn't install the network card, or Remove the XP Firewall.
(It would hang.....)
I couldn't install the LAN card drivers from the Motherboard disc...
I assume it has something to do with it......
but I'm not sure....
I only wish to reinstall XP right now
and later I will deal with it... any ideas?
I tried searching the BIOS to disable the LAN card but I couldn't fine anything.....

Thanks

What motherboard do you have and have you checked if it needs a bios update to fix the LAN problem you've described ?
As for the rest, the section of the bios where you want to look is Integrated Peripherals.
Find it in your manual first so you know where to look when you're in the bios.
XP not installing until the on board LAN was disabled has come up before, same deal if you had to pull a NIC card.
Another problem used to be it not installing until USB was disabled as well.
Depending on the age of your board you could have one or both of these problems.
You do not need to remove the XP firewall. It's disabled by default and will have no effect unless you activate it.
As a rule, while USB drivers are a seperate install, LAN drivers are not. The problem could be the cd, if it's scratched or dirty.
