Simple enough.... I can't find it in XP. Where is it normally located?

I did a search for hosts and found a hosts file in:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
I can only assume that might be it.

Hmmm, thanks, not there tho. I think b/c I have a dual boot w/ 98SE that it may be in a different place.

Actually it was there b/c I'm a total doofus and missed it.
I was actually looking for it so that I could add some lines to it to block AIM's ads. If anyone elses hates AIM ads, just add these lines to the bottom of your hosts.sam file:
#AIM
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com
127.0.0.1 empiremovies.com
127.0.0.1 xlonhcld.xlontech.net
127.0.0.1 VTOT.proxy.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ads.web.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ads.aol.com

I blocking unwanted with hosts is great.
No, you don't add those to hosts.sam - you add them to just plain hosts, with no extension.

Right. Typo that I didn't feel like correcting. Good to know for others out there. I think I saw a hosts.sam on my 98 partition.
Yep, the hosts.sam is inactive, it's just a sample hosts file.
