MSN Messenger login problem

I currently use a LAN, and I've been trying to link up to MSN Messenger 6.2
I've had the "I use a proxy" check-box both ticked and unticked, but it still refuses to connect. It gives me the error code "0x8100036f", and when I connect online to troubleshoot it connects me... however, I don't want to have to keep troubleshooting every time I want to connect.
Any ideas what causes this??

Bugger.... guess I'll have to give up and put this on the 'too hard' pile :(

1. Open msn messenger and click on TOOLS, then OPTIONS, the CONNECTION and UNTICK the "I USE A PROXY SERVER" box and click OK
Then if you still can't sign in then TICK the "I USE A PROXY SERVER" box and try sign in.

2.Check in all Messengers the Proxy configuration. Tools > Options > Conection). Is the same in all PCs?

3.Also verify Internet Explorer encryptation in every PCs. Is it at 128-bits?

4.Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Connections tab.
Click LAN Settings.
Click to select the Automatically detect settings check box, and then click OK two times.
