The Reverend Jackson is backpedaling faster than Hillary can say, "Bill Who?"

waiting & Jenni,
You and I can be "Reverend" any time we want. In some states all you need is a permit, in others, you need nothing.
The "inference" from calling yourself Rev is that you have some sort of theological degree, but that's not strictly necessary.

Don't forget the Reverend Al Sharpton, another titleist who loves a microphone, cameras and a crowd.

LawyerRon, I was aware of that. My husband is an ordained Baptist minister, and all he needed was the approval of the church he was a member of. (It isn't quite as simple as it sounds, you go through an "ordination counsel" where other ministers and deacons can ask you any question they like, and if they aren't satisfied with your answer, they won't allow your ordination.) So, in general, I would like to know what church, if any, ordained the two "reverends", or if this is a title they bestowed on themselves.

Jenni,
What I was referring to relate more to the “legal” requirements, which as I understand them, aren’t much. I’m sure if you want to become a Rev in a mainstream religion like Baptist, Methodist, etc., the religion itself imposes certain requirements and restrictions like the ones you mentioned before you acquire the title Reverend.
I don’t know the backgrounds of Jackson and Sharpton as far as college or other religious education goes, and I don’t know what their qualifications are.
