my first build ???

First i would like to say hello to everyone.
I'm think of building a system with these parts:
gigabyte ga-k8nxp sli mobo
athlon a64 3500+ venice cpu
thermaltake shark case
enermax psu #eg701axvesfma20sli
6800 gt video card
corsair 1gb ddr ram #vs1gbkit406

Does anyone see any problems with this system? Any conflicts? I want to put it together with little to no problems.

What hard drive maker do you suggest? Think 120 or 160 gb.
Is it better to get a dvd/rw cd/rw combo or seperates? which ones should i look at?
TIA
PAUL

Aside from the Gigabyte motherboard, everything looks okay.

I don't quite understand what you're asking here. A DVD burner will also burn CDs so they are all DVD/CD burner "combos". Just get a DVD burner and a DVD reader. Lite-On for the burner and ASUS, LG or Sony for the reader.

Looks pretty good - like Cricket, I recommend Seagate. Are you using this system for gaming?

Cricket,
I read in CPU mag that asus a8n-sli and xfx geforce 6800 gt have a conflict with each other. A leadtec winfast px6800gt tdh will sit in the asus will work fine with each other. The leadtec has a dual slot design. Making it the only board to accept leadtec in sli setup. The gigabyte, dfi, msi all leave one slot space between onboardx16 connectors. The asus has two.

What does one do now? I don't know how good or bad a leadtec card is? I would like to use 6800 gt cards i just don't want to have conflicts with anything.

KRAM,
Yes the system will be mainly for gaming.

Cricket,
I was thinking i might get seperate dvd/rw and cd/rw drives. If i don't need to get seperates then combo drive it is. THANK YOU.

How to the leadtek geforce 6800gt and evga pcx 6800gt video cards compare?

Since they both use the GeForce 6800GT chip provided by the same company (nVIDIA), the performance is going to be VERY close - I'd suggest going with the cheaper card.
