new build problem

tried to build sys and after installing everything--proc,mb,ram,vid,hd,fd,cd, i cant get anything out of the sys. the power light comes on the fans in the case work the fan on the proc works the small light in corner of mb comes on but nothing happens with the sys the floppy and optical drives never light up like their getting power and no sound out of the speaker. i have tried two diff mb with the same result is it possible that the case is bad or does it look like the proc is doa---just received it last week amd xp 2400 in sealed case never opened and everything looked ok with it--- did try compon. in another system and they work but havent tried proc in other sys.
