Budget Build
I need to build an inexpensive computer for an older person who will only be using it for net surfing and email. Integrated video is okay. I was thinking about using a Sempron 2500 (need to save the bucks vs a Barton core)and an Asus A7n8X-VM . Any better combos ? Also the Asus web site lists the cpu types the board will work with as " AthlonXP/Athlon/Duron , while on other models they list Sempron. Will a Sempron work on that board? Thanks

The Asus A7N8X board will support Sempron - you will need to flash BIOS, though. Half of the Semprons are rebadged Thoughrobreds and Bartons and the other half are low-end Athlon64 w/out 64-bit and half cache disabled. For what it seems the computer will be used for, the Sempron should be fine.
