I have "computer won't turn on" issues
I have built my own computer and everything is alright, except that when I flip the power switch, nothing happens. Now, if I leave the power switch on, and then remove the video card about halfway, the power kicks on and everything is fine. Obviously the computer beeps at me because the video card is half out, but I all I have to do is push it back in and then quickly turn the power switch off and back on again. However, if I leave the power switch off for more than about 2 or 3 seconds, the computer will not turn back on unless I mess with the video card again. I'm a newbie (obviously) in the computer building area, so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting sick of having to play with the video card to get my computer to turn on.
Thanks! |

Make sure the video card connector and the AGP/PCI-x slot are both clean and free of dust. If they are, and you are still having problems, get another card from somehwere to test. If the second card works, then the problem is a defective video card.
Are these all new components? What are the brands and models? |

Nevermind, I figured it out. It's pretty embarrasing, but I was just flipping the power switch. I didn't realize that I needed to push the power button as well. It's kind of strange that playing with the video card actually worked. Thanks for the response. Sorry to waste your time.
