New shuttle build

After posting my last 'build' thread i have changed my mind. I have decided to buy a barebones shuttle system. The one that i have my eyes on is the Shuttle SN25P

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ skt 939
Gigabyte GF 6200 (mainly used for the sims 2 and tycoon games. And flight sim 2004)
120 GB Western Digital Caviar SATA UDMA150 7200rpm 8MB cache
Corsair® Value Select 512Mb DDR PC2700
Samsung TS-H552U Dual Layer 16x16x DVD +/-R/RW Black inc Software
Trust 2000P SoundForce 5.1 surround speaker set

the shuttle comes with a 350w psu. And ther total is £515.01. That is excluding os, mouse, keyboard and moniter. These will be bought when system is complete.

Just a couple of comments...

I believe the shuttle case comes with a heatsink. Therefore, get yourself the OEM version of that processor and save yourself a few quid.

Perhaps swap the hard drive to a Seagate? These are considered the best at the moment, offering a 5 year warrenty unmatched by any other manufacturer.

512 MB of ram is really the lowest option to run XP and multi-task smoothly. Is it within your budget to upgrade this to 1GB? You'll certainly notice the difference...

I'd suggest swapping your DVD burner, Samsung drives have let me down and are not known for quality. Get yourself an NEC or Lite-on.

I'm not up to speed with the quality of Shuttle PSUs, perhaps someone else could advise on this score.

The Shuttle PSU's in the SFF cases are decent.

Yeah i will get an Oem version. also i have 512mb ram on the pc that i am using now. IT runs perfectly and dosent hang when i multitaks, even with intergrated graphics. I am also brousing a component shop website while typing this. they have an oem 3000+ for £89.99. I will stick with the western digital. There is a samsung dvd burner in my mums pc and it has been fantastic. In my pc i have got an lg dvd-rom. The shop which i will be buying the stuff from only does a Winchester core in it's oem. Isnt that the old core.

512MB of RAM is the prefered average for XP, 256MB is okay, lower than that will be painful.
