New system...processor problem???

Alright, i'm building a new system and i'm having some problems. I got the motherboard and everything installed ok, but when i turn it on it runs REALLY slow (just entering the bios takes 30 if not more), and it looks like it's only picking the processor up at 200 mhz. I tried moving the ratio on the processor up in the bios, but it still looks like it's only at 200mhz and it's still running slow.

anyone have any ideas?

It's a gigabyte k8ns motherboard, with a Athlon 64 3000+ processor. Socket 939. DDR ram, a maxtor harddrive, I think i have a ATI radeon 9330 as well.

Sounds like you may need to update the BIOS version on the motherboard BIOS chip.

It's a brand new motherboard though that supports this processor....how out of date could the bios be?

Doesn't hurt - the E3 revision Athlon 64 requires its own new BIOS. Flash it and see how it comes out.

Possible try to reset the Bios defaults? I don't see a bios update that would affect this and the makers site list it as supported CPU.

Is the CPU fan spining? It may also be getting hot.
