Built PC; Trying to get into BIOS, but no video...
Firstly, I'll just start off with the specs:
Case - ATOP XBladeATX 450W PSU Motherboard - MSI K8N Neo2 Nforce3 Ultra Socket 939 ATX AMD Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1000 FSB Socket 939 Memory - Rosewill 512 MB 184 Pin DDR SDRAM DDR400 PC3200 Unbuffered HD - Samsung Spinpoint P Series160GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra CDROM - NEC IDE DVD Burner Sound - Built In Realtek AC97 Video - VisionTek ATI Xtasy Radeon 9250 Now to the problem: I bought all new parts just over a week ago, and got everything put together last week. The PC wasn't starting at all, but that was due to a grounding problem between the mobo and case and I fixed it. Now that everything is together and it powers up, I have a new issue. The PC powers up, but I get no video through my monitor. The monitor looks as it does when nothing is on. I just bought the video card last night because the one I was going to use was slotted different than the AGP slot itself on my mobo. I have checked and checked any little thing that can be wrong. I cleared CMOS, made sure everything was seated good, all of the fans spin, the led's light up, I just have no clue where to go from here. I have posted this on a few other good pc forums just to try and maximize response to get as many ideas that could be wrong. I simply have no idea and was reading around here and saw a lot of people that know what they are talking about. Any ideas/response would be wonderful. Thanks. |

Do you hear any beeps when powering on?
Did you make sure you connected the small 4 pin PSU to mobo power connector (its an easy one to miss)???

pretty obvious but.. make sure the monitor is plugged in properly into both the video card outlet and the electrical outlet/wall. with that done, when you turn on just the monitor (while the mobo/pc is off) you should get an amber color light on the monitor power button. if you get that, you're in good shape. one you start up the pc the light should turn green indication everything is working.
you said the fans and led's light up when the pc is on.. but not the monitor? well, after checking the above, and if it still doesn't work, i would assume maybe the monitor is burned out? if you have another monitor around the house or maybe if a friend can let you borrow one quick, you can see for sure if its the monitor that's shot or not. |

Yeah, I know with some newer ones they had the 2 different power connectors. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of beep when I first start up with a new pc that needs to go through bios to configure the hd and dvd? Quote:
For another type of possible help... My D Bracket USB in the back that uses one of the pci spots, has LED's that are supposed to help with diagnosing any problems. It goes through a few then stops at process initialization... if that helps anything... Thanks for the response, I am just so clueless right now. Not sure if I will be able to come on again tonight as this is my parents computer, if not, I'll be checking here again tomorrow morning but won't be able to do anything. |

Did you check the power connection to the video card? Also check that the video card is properly seated.
