power supply query
hi all. i am building a new pc for the first time and have a question about the power supply and plugs....
i notice that some powersupplys have different amount of pins.... some have 20, 22, 24 and 26 pins, i was wondering what the difference is between the pin amounts.... im looking to get a case with a 500W PS and the motherboard i am getting has a 24pin PS connector..... any information on the power supply would be helpful.... jstone |

Get a quality brand ATX 2.0 spec unit, that will have the 24 pin connector you need. MOST cases that cost under $100 that come with a 500w power supply have poor quality power supplies.

The first two threads in the general hardware forum have a lot of useful information about power supplies. The second has a list of good/bad brands.
