Question A8N-E motherboard - faulty chip fan?

I built this system about four months ago. I am having a problem with the chip fan on a A8N-E motherboard. It is making a horrible sound.

Is a chipped fan replaceable or will I have to send the motherboard back to the manufacturer? I am hoping that the Chip Fan is replaceable I dread the thought of having to remove the motherboard for a replacement. Removing the motherboard basically means dismantling the computer!

Suggestions, comments??

Thanks!

P.S. The motherboard is still under warranty.

Yeah, they had problems with these if I recall. I believe they fixed it, so you could give Abit (right?) a call and they should give you a replacement

Asus.

They addressed that problem several weeks ago - you will more than likely need to remove the motherboard for a complete replacement.

Contact ASUS support. They will send you a new chipset fan. The first style fan (small, square) was the problem. They revised the fan with a second style that sits diagonally over the chipset. When I got my board, I didn't realize that I had the revised fan. I had heard all the horror stories, so I contacted ASUS and they sent me a replacement before I even fired the thing up. Now, at least I have a spare if I have problem. They were great with the replacement, no questions asked other than my address and I had it in four days.

But yes, ASUS will send you a replacement fan.

Thanks for the info jfk!
This is good news! I will give ASUS a call. I dread sending them the motherboard replacing the fan is a much better option.

Thank you blue60007 and kram 2.0 for your input it is appreciated!
