Unhappy Hp Pavilion 750n CPU upgrade

I tried to put a Celeron 2.7 w 400fsb in my Hp 750 n and it just sits there. It has the ASUS P4B266 LA motherboard in it with the latest Hp 3.02 BIOS. ASUS says that the processor will work with their version of the board with a bios upgrade. I tried the ASUS 1004.003 upgrade but got a message that it was the wrong size.

Anybody know of a BIOS upgrade for this machine?

Thanks

Steve

did you check with the mfg of that system to see if there was any bios upgrade, and what cpu it will support ?

the motherboards that are made for hp are not the same boards that ate normally sold on the open market. so it might be best to check with them first.

Yes, Hp says that the 3.02 is the latest. I saw a motherboard that would work on Ebay for $20 bucks -- but it's more fun to try to figure this stuff out.

Thanks
