Do you have SATA enabled in BIOS?
If no then enabled it and see if it is recognized. Once it is recognized you are going to need to install the SATA drivers with a floppy disk (put mobo cd in another computer and move the drivers onto the floppy) then when booting press the key when asked do you want to install additional drivers and do so. Then proceed installing windows onto the drive.

No I wouldn't do that...let's get this one working. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but see what SATA port it's plugged in. Also, if there are any jumpers, consult the hard drive manual to see what the proper setting is.

What is the exact message you receive if you let a cold boot run its course?

I don't have a manual to my motherboard or hard drive.
I have 2 SATA ports on motherboard and have tried them both neither works. seagate.com said the jumpers on the hard drive were for factory use only. A cold boot on my computer does this: Starts on first page where you can go into cmos then Scans IDE drives then says No Array is Defined............................ Press ctrl - F to enter fast build utility or press Esc to continue booting........ when you press Esc it goes to Verifying DMI pool data.................... Boot from CD: Boot from CD: Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter Thats it. |

and if i define an array and save it then reboot my computer it goes to the
Verifying DMI pool data.......................... and stays there. |

Wait! No array?? Hmm do you have 4 SATA ports? 2 of those are no doubt a different color than the other 2 and are used for Raid only... try a different colord SATA port.
I looked at the manual online... You do in fact only have 2 SATA ports, However there is a jumper Jp4... 1-2 is Raid enabled and 2-3 is Raid disabled... verify its setting. Last edited by fudtone; 12-01-2005 at 12:44 PM. |
