building new PC, appreciate any help/suggestions

Hello,

I am planning to build a new PC and was hoping to get some advice on the setup I am currently looking at. It will basically just be a standard PC. Some moderate gaming, photoshop, movie watching, web browsing. I am trying to keep my price around $700. I already have all the peripherals, optical drives, floppy drive, and new version of windows. This is what I am currently looking at. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

if u can manage i recommend the x800gto or the 6800gs, either would show a great improvement over the x600 and whats more is that u could overclock these really well, since theyre high end cards that are just crippled (lowered clock speeds, locked pipelines)

x800gto http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property

6800gs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property

other than that everything else looks good

the one thing you are missing is optical drives
i recommend getting two (combo drive and dvdrw)
you can get dvdrw pretty cheap on newegg

also you may need an operating system if you dont have one
(keyboard mouse monitor as well)

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into the other cards. Also, I already have the optical drives, OS, keyboard, mouse.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

That motherboard has integrated 8 channel sound. You might want to try it out before you get a sound card.
Rosewill isn't considered to be very good RAM. Here is the list of tested/approved RAM for that motherboard from the ASUS website.
Also, if you are going with 1 Gb of RAM, a 2 x 512 dual channel kit would give you a little better performance, and if 1 stick fails, you would still be able to run the computer.

Good point about the integrated sound. I will likely remove the sound card from my list and save some money. I'll probably buy some Kingston RAM instead. Thanks for the advice!
