Need a little help.

Hope I chose the right forum. Here goes.

I have a 2nd computer thats been giving me trouble. Starting 3 or 4 days ago the monitor goes into power save mode, the keyboard / mouselights shut off, and I have to turn it off for a while before it will start up again. I tried starting up in safemode today and it restarted itself, started to boot the bio and then went down like usual. It rebooting then going down is unusual. usually it just goes dead. I don't believe its a heat issue, usually when my heatsink and fan need cleaned I can make out the noise of the fan pushing out too many rpms.

Specs.
Intel P4 2.4gig
Ati radeon 9000 pro, latest drivers, dx9.0c (kinda old, never gave me any problems before)
Sound blaster pro (couple years old)
1 gig DDR ram

Thats all the specifics i can remember without being able to check it, which i can't because its messing with me =(.
