need help on a build

I was refered here by barch 88.

so I just finished my first build.

I have to install RAID drivers so I can actually install my OS

I have followed the instruction in the manual but when it gets to step 3 it says to hit f10 after system powers up, insert disk, and to install the drivers.

This would be fine and dandy if it worked.

specs:
DFI LanPartyUT nF3 (socket 754)
AMD Athalon 64 3700+
1 gig of ram
nVidia 6600 apg
and if it matters windows 2000

Cool

WINDOWS 2000?! Well, I know when installing WinXP, there's a step during the install when it prompts you to hit F6 to install Raid Drivers. You hit F6 and it then prompts you to insert the floppy containing the drivers. For me installing WinXP on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, it was pretty straightforward and easy. GOOD LUCK!

Thats what I said to him before he came here for help. That is what it did for me with XP. Although my Driver floppy was all messed up and MSI had to send me another one...

Question

Can't you just suck it up and buy WinXP for $99? It might save you some headaches.

2000 and XP work the same way, that's not a solution.

Are you installing a SATA drive on the NV controller or the Marvell controller? You need the appropriate driver. After you press F6, you have to wait a minute or so for a prompt to come up. It doesn't come up right away.

LOL Ha ha ha that's great! It's always the simplest thing isn't it? Just the other day, my wife wanted me to play a christmas music CD on the computer (Klipsch 2.1 speakers) while we decorated the Xmas tree and when I tried to play it with Windows Media Player, I wasn't getting any sound. The equalizer bars and music visualizations were moving but I had no audio. I was all confused. So I closed out Media Player and tried it with Real Player and it worked. It wasn't until later, when I tried Win Media Player again that I noticed that my wife must've turned the volume all the way down to zero with the onscreen click and drag volume control right on the Media Player the last time we used it. Uh duh.
