Need Advice on power up problem

Hello, I just put together a computer for my son for christmas. It went together well and works great except for one thing, It won't post on a reboot or cold boot until the reset button is pushed. I've checked the power options and looked in BIOS but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I'm A+ certified and been in the business for over a year but I have never seen this problem before. Help please, Christmas is coming. I'm using a NF4K8AB Foxconn motherboard with a AMD 64-bit 2800+ processor running XP Pro.
Thanks

Does that mean the main power button does not respond at all? When you Restart from XP, does it hang or something? What does the system do when you click Restart?

Sorry

Sorry about that. I posted at 5:00 AM after battling the problem for 10 hours. From a cold start, I press the power button and the lights, fans, cpu fan, HHD all come on like a normal start and then hangs before posting. When I press the reset button, it posts and comes up and everything is fine, no problems. What troubles me the most is, what is different between the initial power button activation and the reset button activation.

Anyway, it hangs before post yet the reset button will start it (after it hangs). To be clear, from a cold start the reset button does not start the computer. You have to use the power button then the reset button.

Also, I just remembered that the computer hangs before the video comes on. The monitor light goes orange when the computer hangs. Just another piece of the puzzle.
