Floppy causing problems

My newest system is working fine but I finally had need to use the FDD and windows wont recognize any disk I put in there. I also noticed that the green drive light is constantly on whether a disk is in the drive or not. I checked all the connections and they were good. I went into the device manager under computer management and it reported that the FDD was working properly. Did I miss something in the BIOS setup or could it be a bad FDD? From what I remember the light should only be running when activley getting or writing data. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You have one end of the cable on backwards (off 180 degrees). Common problem indicated by the light being on constantly.
